About Us

White Breast Brewing Company is currently in the start up phase.  This blog has been created to inform those interested of our plans and our progress.

White Breast Brewing Company takes its name from White Breast Creek , an important tributary of the Des Moines River. It flows from southwest Iowa to its mouth with the Des Moines River at Lake Red Rock.  Legend has it that the creek was named by the native Indians for a white breasted bear that roamed the area many years ago.  We chose this name to anchor us to the local geography and remind us to keep nature first, both in our products we make but also with regard to our impact on our surroundings.

White Breast Brewing Company will create handcrafted, full flavored beers with a great attention to quality.  We will be hiring a professional brewmaster to create beer that is traditional, yet fresh and exciting.  The brewery will have  tap room for tastings and special beer education dinners.  Tours will be offered once the brewery is set up and operational.

Thanks for viewing our blog!  We would love to hear from you if you have questions or comments.

Cheers,
Dan, Scott and Megan

I’ve lived in Knoxville for most of my life, besides some stents around the state and North Carolina. I think it’s great that someone is finally bringing business to town as opposed to out of it. If you want some really fun research head to Munich and check out all the breweries. I was over there in January and it was amazing. Good Luck and I can’t wait to drink some K-ville beer. I’ve always wanted to be a brewer but had to settle for chemist. Oh well. By the way I think the Idea of Nigel as a doorman would be hilarious…and scary at the same time.

Scott and Megan!!! Yay!!! I have been so excited about this since you had told me about it.

Thought I would share an idea I had. I read that part about the Indian legend about the name and thought a bear with a white breast would be either be a good logo to tie into the legend or maybe one of the darker beers could have that bear on the label. Bottle caps could just have the bear on it with the name White Breast Brewing around the edge of the cap

It was nice to meet you both at the Craft Brewer’s Conference in Boston… I wish you well in your endeavors with White Breast. The more breweries, the better!

Just a thought, but have you enquired into whether the TTB will approve of your using the word “breast” in your name? They do seem to let a little leeway of the word is a legitimate geographical name, as in Grand Teton Bitch Creek, but still, you’ll want to save yourself a lot of headache and rebranding in the future.

I look forward to the good things to come! It is great that there are many craft breweries starting up around the midwest, especially in Iowa. Good luck with the search for a brewer!

So what is the name of your start-up? Peace Tree or Whitebreast?
